Picking the Perfect Wedding Date

Posted on: June 27th, 2012 by admin No Comments

So, you’ve found the one and decided to make the lifelong commitment to each other.  Congratulations, you’ve officially made the first of many decisions about your wedding day!  Getting married is one of the most joyful, beautiful, and potentially stressful events in a person’s life, but the experience of getting to the aisle can sometimes feel like an endless barrage of planning.  Here’s some helpful hints for picking your perfect wedding date!

Meaning
Do you and your sweetie have special anniversaries like the first time you met, the first time you kissed or the first time you exchanged “I love you’s”?  Those special dates may be the ideal starting point for choosing the date that will become your wedding anniversary for years to come.  You may also find inspiration from other cultures.  In the Chinese tradition, the number 8 is considered a sign of prosperity and luck… maybe an 8/8 wedding date?  Another idea – consider your favorite numbers and find a creative combination to pick the perfect date.  Perhaps a lucky 7/13?

Season
It feels like just about everyone wants a spring wedding, but we encourage couples to consider their personal style in picking the perfect season.  Imagine a balmy evening wedding with guests dancing late into the night?  Then a summer wedding may be exactly what you want.  Envision an indoor ceremony with opulence and sparkle?  Perhaps a winter wedding is more your speed.  Spring and fall are lovely times of change and the themes of renewal and transition may be just what you want to convey to your guests.  Venues, such as ours, with lovely indoor and outdoor options afford couples an opportunity to be flexible with their big day plans with respect to the weather.

Price
For many venues in Austin, it is not uncommon for weekends in April, May and October to be booked over a year in advance for daytime, outdoor weddings.  These popular times often also come with the biggest price tags.  If you’re looking for a good deal on a venue, consider weekdays (Monday – Thursday) and less in-demand months (December, January, July, August).  You can save in upwards of 20-30% off the hefty price tag of a highly sought after Saturday in May.

We hope some of these tips help ease the anxiety of choosing the perfect wedding date.  If you’ve got some dates in mind and are interested in checking out Barr Mansion for your indoor or outdoor wedding or reception, please give us a call at (512) 926-6907 or send an email to info@barrmansion.com.
